WATCH: Charlie Cox Says His Wife Nearly Fainted After Call with Marvel President | ESB

Marvel fans aren’t the only ones who anxiously awaited the resurrection of the “Daredevil” franchise. Matt Murdoch and Wilson Fisk were ready to return to New York City in a moment’s notice.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio – who play the rivals in “Daredevil: Born Again” – recently visited the Empire State Building to flip the switch in a lighting ceremony and tour the immersive museum and iconic Observatories.

The series stars sat down after the visit and recounted the moment that they received the green light from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

"When Kevin called, [my wife] got so excited that she had a bout of vertigo," Cox laughed. "Afterwards she had to lie down."

D’Onofrio praised the Marvel exec as a “great boss,” and spoke of his anticipation for the return of “Daredevil.”

“We moved on; we did other jobs. Obviously, we're actors, that's what we do. But it was something that we were both waiting for,” said D’Onofrio. “I knew that it would come eventually. I just didn't know when.”

The “Daredevil” duo stayed busy amid the franchise’s hiatus – D’Onofrio notably starred in “Godfather of Harlem” as Vincent “The Chin” Gigante while Cox appeared in the West End production of Harold Pinter’s “Betrayal” and made a celebrated cameo in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

“I’m always blown away by the reactions and the support that we get,” said Cox, when asked about the cameo. “It’s very, very humbling.”
