Each year, the Empire State Building Observatory celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and shines a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the history, culture, and society of our nation. This annual celebration, from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, is dedicated to the rich traditions, diverse heritage, and vibrant arts of the Hispanic community.
Throughout this month-long celebration, the Empire State Building Observatory Experience – named #1 attraction in the world by Tripadvisor travelers – will host special events and commemorations that emphasize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans. From themed movie nights to tower lightings, there are multiple opportunities for guests to celebrate at the building.

Why the Empire State Building Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
As New York City’s most iconic landmark with thousands of Hispanic visitors each year, the Empire State Building celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month to showcase their rich culture and heritage.
Each year, the world-famous Empire State Building Observatory hosts a variety of events and activities to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month. These include art exhibitions, live performances, pop-ups, and special tower lightings.
How to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month 2024 at ESB
ESB kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month 2024 on Sept. 15 – Mexico’s Independence Day – with a special lighting ceremony and visit with Mexican singer Belinda. That night, the building’s world-famous tower lights shined in red, white, and green to honor the historic day of independence.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, there are several exciting ways to join the celebration at the iconic Empire State Building Observatory for locals and visitors alike which include:
- Movie Nights: Back by popular demand, the Empire State Building Observatory will screen the beloved film “Selena” – the iconic story of GRAMMY-winning artist Selena Quintanilla-Perez – on the building’s 80th Floor with tacos, quesadillas, margaritas and more provided by Tacombi and Union Mezcal. - Special lighting to honor Hispanic heritage: Witness the Empire State Building shine in vibrant colors that represent Hispanic culture. The iconic tower will illuminate the New York City skyline in red to honor the contributions of Hispanics throughout the world on Sept. 30.
- Celebrity Visit: Actress Eva Longoria will join HOLA! Magazine to honor the publication’s 80th anniversary and to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a special lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building Observatory on Sept. 30.
