The Empire State Building's iconic tower lights shined in white and blue to celebrate the American Kennel Club's 140th Anniversary on Sept. 16.
To honor the occasion, AKC President Dennis Sprung and four dogs – Kate the Clumber Spaniel, Luca the Newfoundland, Gibson the Golden Retriever, and Hope the English Cocker Spaniel – visited the building to flip the famous light switch. After the ceremony, the group toured the immersive exhibits and took in the views from the famed 86th Floor Observatory.
The American Kennel Club was founded by a group of dog enthusiasts to promote responsible dog ownership. Throughout its history, the AKC has become one of the most influential organizations in the world of purebred dogs, setting breed standards and hosting dog shows across the nation. Today, AKC continues to be the country’s leading authority on all things dogs, and celebrates the joy that our canine companions bring to our lives every day.
