‘Tis the season!
The Empire State Building’s annual Holiday Music-to-Light Spectacular returned this year on Dec. 19, set to Jimmy Fallon’s new holiday song “Wrap Me Up” featuring Meghan Trainor.
To mark the premiere of the dynamic display, Fallon visited the building’s reimagined Observatory Experience – the number one attraction in the U.S. by Tripadvisor travelers for two consecutive years – for a special lighting ceremony and fan event presented by State Farm and in partnership with iHeartRadio.

An Annual Tradition
Each year, the Holiday Music to Light Spectacular celebrates the holiday season in an authentic, New York City way as it features the landmark’s thousands of LED lights atop its world-famous tower synced to a holiday tune by a notable artist. The light show – choreographed by famed lighting designer Marc Brickman and his Tactical Manoeuvre team – spreads holiday cheer to fans in New York City and around the world via ESB’s Earthcam.
The New York City tradition complements the Empire State Building’s grand holiday decorations which cover every corner of its Observatory Experience and iconic Fifth Avenue Lobby.
Iconic Duo
Fallon proved to be the perfect choice for this year’s Music-to-Light Spectacular when he visited the Observatory Experience for a lighting ceremony on Dec. 7. The comedian spoke about his love for New York City and the Empire State Building before he flipped the famous switch to kick off the annual light show.
“The fact that I’m doing something with the Empire State Building means so much to me,” Fallon said. “It’s iconic. I’m kind of freaking out. This is a big moment for me.”
Holiday Cheer
After the ceremony, Fallon headed to the building’s 80th floor for an exclusive event with his biggest fans. Fallon sat alongside legendary radio host Elvis Duran as he answered fan questions and treated the crowd to a surprise musical performance of “Sleigh Ride,” “Mele Kalikimaka,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
The annual Holiday Music-to-Light Spectacular will run nightly until Dec. 25, synched to a 7 p.m. EST broadcast of “Wrap Me Up” on iHeartRadio’s Z100.
