The Empire State Building lit up its world-famous tower lights in purple, yellow, and pink to honor the "Star Trek: Section 31" premiere on Paramount+ and in support of the Los Angeles wildfires on Jan. 24.
That afternoon, "Star Trek: Section 31" cast members Michelle Yeoh, Omari Hardwick, and Rob Kazinsky joined director and producer Olatunde Osunsanmi for a lighting ceremony at the building. The crew flipped the iconic light switch before they toured the world-famous Observatory Experience, voted the number one attraction in the world in Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards: Best of the Best Things to Do.
"Star Trek: Section 31" follows Emperor Philippa Georgiou as she joins a secret division of Starfleet whose purpose is to defend the United Federation of Planets by any means necessary. As its first-ever streaming film on Paramount+, "Star Trek: Section 31" is boldly going where no "Star Trek" film has gone before.
This special "Star Trek: Section 31" lighting was in partnership with World Central Kitchen, an organization that supports the first responders of the Los Angeles firefighters.
