Why is there a Dragon on the Empire State Building?

Vhagar has landed in the heart of New York City.

The Empire State Building declared allegiance to the King in a “Team Green” takeover that included a life-sized Iron Throne, cast visit, and a one-of-a-kind, 270-foot Vhagar the Dragon coiled around the building’s mast ahead of “House of the Dragon” Season Two.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the “Game of Thrones” universe at the “World’s Most Famous Building” through June 18.

FACE THE BEAST

On June 16, New Yorkers awoke to see Aemond Targaryen’s dragon, Vhagar, clinging to the Empire State Building’s spire. A series of dynamic light shows which feature schemes of gold, green, and red will rotate in 30-minute intervals behind the 270-foot firebreather throughout her residency. Those brave enough can come face to face with Vhagar on the Empire State Building’s 86th Floor Observatory until June 19.

ENTER WESTEROS

“House of the Dragon” fans can sit in the most dangerous seat in the realm and rule from the life-sized Iron Throne on the Grand Staircase at the Empire State Building Observatory. Those who visit will also be among the first to experience Zynga’s “Game of Thrones: Legends” mobile games and transport themselves into the “Game of Thrones” universe in an interactive photo booth on the building’s 80th Floor.

ROYAL VISIT

“House of the Dragon” Season Two stars Olivia Cooke, Fabien Frankel, Tom Glynn-Carney, Ewan Mitchell, and Phia Saban visited the Empire State Building to kick off the “Team Green” takeover with a lighting ceremony. After they flipped the famous switch, the cast toured the iconic Observatory Experience and took in the unmatched views from the 86th, 102nd, and 103rd Floors.

DRAGON FOOD

New York City fan-favorite Tipsy Scoop will offer a booze-infused dragon fruit sorbet garnished with Dragon’s Breath Rock Candy and a mini dragon figurine in a pop-up on the building’s 86th Floor through June 18.
