American former #1 tennis player Billie Jean King (BJK) visited the Empire State Building to celebrate the Women's Sports Foundation's 50th Anniversary. BJK flipped the famous light switch, lighting the building Blue, Red, Pink, and Yellow. She was then photographed across the Observatory, including the Grand Staircase and 86th Floor Observatory.
- BJK won 20 Wimbledon titles, 13 United States titles, 4 French titles, and 2 Australian titles between 1961 and 1979.
- Throughout her legendary tennis career, BJK campaigned for equality between men's and women's sports, which lead her start the Women's Sports Foundation.
- The USTA National Tennis Center in Queens, NY was renamed to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis center on August 28, 2006.
