It’s the day of the dog!
The Empire State Building celebrated the annual National Dog Show with a special lighting ceremony and photo opportunity at the Observatory Experience this November. Veteran broadcasters John O’Hurley and David Frei lit the building in blue, white, and orange along with OnY and Nemo the Biewer Terriers, TruDat the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and Monkey the Coton de Tulear.
To honor the 2023 National Dog Show, we rounded up our favorite four-legged visitors through the years at the Empire State Building Observatory.
WESTMINSTER WINNERS
Each year, the Westminster Kenner Club Best in Show winner takes a victory lap at the Empire State Building to celebrate a job well done.
NATIONAL PET DAY
The Empire State Building hosted a National Pet Day event with pet influencers and adoptable puppies at its world-famous Observatory in April 2023. Bideawee and Waldo Rescue partnered with the building for the onsite adoption event that featured treats and adoption boxes from Chewy, Dog & Co., and Little L’s Pet Bakery.

Canine fashion influencer and friend of the building Tika the Iggy got fitted for her official Empire State Building Observatory host uniform designed by Peyman Umay in October 2023.
BIG REVEAL
The Empire State Building unveiled its Fifth Avenue Lobby holiday windows – which celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved Christmas comedy “Elf” – with special guests Tinkerbell and Belle in the front row in November 2023.
